After ticking off a few marathons from my bucket list, I started looking for something new—something that would push me in a different way. That’s when I discovered HYROX: a race combining running with a series of functional fitness workouts like sled pushes, rowing, wall balls, and more. It sounded brutal. Naturally, I was interested.

The only catch? It was sold out.

I learned there was still a chance to get in through a ballot system. Some people online mentioned that applying for the Pro category increased your chances of being selected. That’s all I needed to hear—I went for the Pro ballot.

Success! I got a spot. But once I dug deeper into what “Pro” actually meant, I had a bit of a moment. It didn’t mean racing against professionals (thankfully), but it did mean heavier weights for every single workout station. No backing out now.

With just six weeks to prepare, I went all in. My training became a mix of sprints, strength work, and lots of sweat. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I was committed.

Race day came fast. The event was buzzing with energy, and the race itself? Relentless. There were moments it felt endless, but I kept grinding through. Crossing that finish line was pure satisfaction—exhaustion, pride, and joy all wrapped into one.

HYROX Pro wasn’t just a fitness event for me—it was a reminder that trying something new, even when it’s intimidating, can be one of the most rewarding things you do.
