The windy city: Chicago

Chicago, the city known as the “windy city” was the chosen one to complete my second marathon. There were two main reasons that made me pick Chicago's marathon: some of my best friends live in USA and secondly it is also one of the six majors marathons in the world.

Before I visit any new city I normally research on the main things to see, what do and (why not) and what to eat. Although I have to admit that Chicago happily surprised me. It has a lot to offer, from endless skyscrapers, parks, to Chicago´s pizza (a must in the city!). Despiste my lacking knowledge on architecture, I was fascinated by the city. We decided to take a little boat (highly recommended) and enjoy the views of the city.

After a couple of days and sightseeing, the big day arrived. I have to confess that I tried to minimise my walking during the previous days but that was merely impossible especially in such a nice city. So I woke up with a bit tired legs but super motivated and ready to enjoy such a big party "Chicago's Marathon". Over 40.000 runners around 1.000.000 spectators my friends across the course...I had no excuse to feel probably the luckiest guy in the world!

That priceless moment when the American anthem was song makes all the training and hard work worth it. Although I trained for the last months to be able to run “comfortably” under 3 hours that goal will have to wait. From the beginning I felt that I had no legs so I decided to enjoy the amazing atmosphere, great crowd and of course the company of my very loyal friends who were strategically situated along the course, final time 3:05.

Whatever you do if you enjoy it and you will never fail!
